I thought that this was interesting. It is from 1992 (which makes the girl only 3 years younger than me). Needless to say, I wasn't speaking in front of the UN in 1992.
Her words still ring true today.

Indeed, it still rings true today... But are people listening? And while we ask the governments, policy makers, business people to do their bits, i wonder if each of us are willing to do our bit - which is being willing to make sacrifices in the way we live our lives...
It will definitely take a major effort on the parts of the governments and its people. Especially in the areas of the world that use most of the world's resources. I do see a glimmer of hope here in the states but I fear that it may be too little too late.
